The birth of the Kalindi Devi Foundation (KDF) happened during the new year family get together in 2019. Entering into New Year, three grandchildren Vinay, Ritu, and Ekta Upadhyay, made a new year speech in front of all the family members and talked about the impact of their grandmother in their lives.

Their grandmother Kalindi Devi, was born and brought up in Nepal and had several chances to visit her grandchildren in the USA. During her stay with them, she, directly and indirectly, touched their souls and spirits through her actions, gestures, and storytelling. She encouraged them to be a kind human being and be unique. She inspired them to help needy and desperate people and expect nothing in return but their blessings.

Three grandchildren made a New Year’s resolution of bringing the desires and last wishes of their grandmother to life. Touched by the heart-melting stories from their grandmother on the struggles of getting basic needs fulfilled in Nepal, they planned to open a non-profit organization. Their father, Bilas Upadhyay, CPA and mother, Dr. Vishnu Maya Upadhyay, APRN recognized the need and appreciated the passion of their three children. Their wishes were fulfilled and the birth of Kalindi Devi Foundation took place on 1/1/2019

Kalindi Devi Foundation is a reflection of their grandmother, Kalindi Devi’s wishes of providing care, love, and resources to people in countries around the world with food, clothes, school supplies, first aid kits, medicines, and other assistance as appropriate
